Selection of candidates under Free Coaching Scheme for SC and OBC Students for the selection year 2022-23

Free Coaching Scheme is a central sector scheme of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment for Schedule Caste (SC)/ Other Back Caste (OBC) under which the students having total family income from all sources of Rs. 8.00 Lakh or less per annum will be eligible for benefit under the scheme. However, SC/OBC candidate belonging to minority community shall not be eligible.

The online applications were called for selection of the 3500 candidates under this scheme for the year 2022-23 w.e.f. 1st May 2022 and the last date for submission of application was 15th June 2022. As per Section 9 (c) of scheme guidelines:

In each category, applicants who are recipients of the Post/Pre Matric Scholarship for SCs, Post/Pre Matric Scholarship for OBCs, or Top-Class Scholarship Schemes for SCs and OBCs (TCS) in the immediately preceding year will get over-riding priority in selection. The eligibility of these candidates would be auto-verified from the databases already available with the Ministry/NSP/State Governments. There will be no further verification of these cases. Merit lists for these candidates shall be drawn up as per the criteria prescribed in the scheme guidelines.

2. In view of the above, the applicants who have mentioned the NSP/State IDs in his/her application form have been verified with the concerned states. As per criteria prescribed in the scheme guidelines and based on verified NSP IDs, a list of 409 and 1404 candidates have been shortlisted. Thus a total of 1813 candidates have been shortlisted.
