Surya Ghar Free Electricity Rooftop Project: Increased demand in Bengaluru

After the central government's Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana announcement of more subsidies, the demand for solar rooftop panels has increased in Silicon City. According to BESCOM estimates, households with an average monthly electricity consumption of 0-150 units of consumer require 1-2 KW of solar capacity, 150-300 units of 2- 3 KW of capacity and above 300 units of 3 KW of capacity

Besides, more power is generated by installing these solar panels, but BESCOM also buys it under power purchase agreement. According to Bescom officials, to set up a 1 KW solar energy panel, a user needs a terrace of at least 10 square meters and it generates 4 units per day
